The Goldman Family

Tony Goldman and his heirs revived South Beach's Art Deco district and later created Wynwood Walls, twice betting on neighborhoods before the market did.

The Family

Tony Goldman was a developer with a pattern: acquire property in a faded but characterful district, restore it, and seed it with culture until the rest of the market caught on. He applied the approach to Miami Beach, where his firm was among the forces behind the restoration of the Art Deco hotels of Ocean Drive. Later, through Goldman Properties, the family turned its attention to Wynwood, a warehouse district they helped reinvent. There they created Wynwood Walls, an outdoor museum of large-scale murals. After Tony's death in 2012, his heirs continued the firm's work.

Why They Matter

The Goldmans shaped two of Miami's most recognizable neighborhoods using the same playbook twice. Wynwood Walls, in particular, became the visual centerpiece of the Wynwood / Art Basel era and a driver of the Art Basel effect that pulled the international art world toward Miami. Their story also raises the recurring Miami question of who benefits when an overlooked district is remade into a destination.
