The Pérez Family
The Family
Jorge Pérez — born in Argentina to Cuban parents, raised partly in Colombia — founded the Related Group in the late 1970s and built it into the dominant developer of Miami's condominium skyline. His central innovation, selling towers pre-construction to Latin American buyers seeking dollar-denominated safety, is the literal construction method of the Latam Capital Era. A major art collector and philanthropist, he lent his name to the Pérez Art Museum Miami.
The next generation is active in the business, positioning the Pérezes as a continuing development dynasty rather than a single founder's firm. As living figures, this site keeps to their documented roles.
Why They Matter
The Pérez family gave the Latam Capital Era its physical shape. The thesis that Miami banks Latin American money is visible most literally in the skyline they built and the buyers they sold to. They are the contemporary heirs to the Fisher–Merrick tradition of builders who define how Miami looks.
Where You See Them Today
Brickell, Edgewater, and the Downtown waterfront are full of Related Group towers, and PAMM carries the family name on the bay. The condo-capital model they pioneered remains the operating logic of Miami real estate.
