III Points
What It Is
III Points is an independent festival held in Wynwood that blends live music, visual art, and a loose technology and ideas component. Launched in the early 2010s, it spreads across warehouse spaces, lots, and venues in the district, with multiple stages running a lineup that leans toward electronic and alternative acts. Unlike the global franchises that visit Miami, III Points was conceived locally, and it carries the do-it-yourself texture of the neighborhood that produced it.
Why It Matters
III Points is the festival that Wynwood grew on its own, which is exactly why it matters. The neighborhood's transformation during the Wynwood / Art Basel Era was driven by the Art Basel Effect and a wave of galleries, murals, and developers. III Points represents the moment that scene started generating its own institutions rather than just hosting visitors' ones. It is also a useful counterweight to the project's reading of Wynwood as manufactured authenticity: the festival is genuinely local in origin, even as it operates inside a district that was deliberately branded. III Points is Wynwood throwing its own party instead of waiting for one to arrive.
